Cheese Puto
Ingredients
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 tbsp baking powder
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup evaporated milk
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup grated cheddar
- butter or oil for brushing the molds
- strips of cheese
Directions
- Grease each mold with butter
- In a bowl, combine flour, sugar and baking powder
- Add the milk and egg and mix until smooth
- Add the water, butter and vanilla extract and mix until smooth
- Add the grated cheese and fold until well distributed
- Fill the molds with batter until 3/4 full
- Steam the Puto, putting the mold on top of a baking pan filled with water
- Steam until inserted toothpick comes out clean
- Add a strip of cheese on each Puto and steam until cheese melts
